Economic Opportunities Analysis

EOA Concept Site Plan

In spring of 2016 the City of Cornelius was awarded a $40,000 grant from Metro to conduct an Economic Opportunities Analysis and Economic Development Strategic & Action Plan, in order to identify the city's economic needs and develop a plan to improve the local economy and employment base. In July 2016, the city selected a team comprised of PR Land Use Strategies, PNW Economics, and E.D. Hovee to conduct the Analysis and develop the Plan through consultation with city stakeholders. During this process the consultant team and city staff identified key opportunities for improving the employment base in the city as well as growing the commercial and industrial sectors. In addition, a broad range of strategies to achieve these goals was developed, along with an ambitious but realistic timeline for performance.

This economic development effort was recently highlighted in an article in the Forest Grove News Times. A link to the article can be found below.

The Analysis and Plan were approved and adopted by the Cornelius City Council at their regularly-scheduled meeting on March 20, 2017. The approved documents are provided below. Please feel free to contact Community Development at (503) 357-3011 with any questions.
