FEMA Advisory-Low Cost, No Cost Preparedness

Fema Ready

National Preparedness Month is an observance each September to raise awareness about the importance of preparing for disasters and emergencies that could happen at any time.
This week’s theme for National Preparedness is Low Cost, No Cost Preparedness.
Take steps today to prepare yourself and your family before disaster strikes.

  •  Many preparedness actions don’t cost any money to do, and several others have a very minimal cost. You can start by gathering supplies around your home that you already have for a go-kit.
  • Sign up for emergency alerts in your area. www.ready.gov
  • Ensuring that you and your family are vaccinated against COVID-19 is a critical first step to be resilient before future disasters. Visit vaccines.org to find a location and make an appointment. Or text your zip code to 438829 and get a text with the closest COVID-19 vaccine location.
  • Review important documents -make digital copies of important records and documents, including a photo of your COVID-19 vaccine card, medical records and insurance papers. Keep them in a secure password protected digital space.
  • Make sure your insurance policies and personal documents like identification cards are up-to-date.
