Public Works Standards and Plans

Few people realize developers construct most public infrastructure. Due to this fact, a city needs Public Works Standards to insure infrastructure is consistent within a jurisdiction. Furthermore, standards are needed to insure infrastructure is constructed in a way that does not impose excessive long-term maintenance costs on city residents and businesses.

The Cornelius Public Works Standards have the reduction of long-term maintenance costs as their primary objective.  Secondary objectives are creating an attractive community and, in terms of streets, creating a safe environment for pedestrians and bikes, as well as motorized vehicles.
